Sight & Sound

"Sight & Sound" is a project where I capture short video clips and overlay them with the exact music I hear, through headphones or speakers, during recording. It's a visual diary, creating a personalized soundtrack to my life. Each clip encapsulates a moment, blending the visual and auditory elements to celebrate the beauty of everyday experiences. Join me on this sensory journey, where the sights around me are harmonized with the sounds that define each moment.

The Concept

Background

Throughout my life music has played an imperative role in my creative process. I started with a toy ukulele that my brother got when we were 7, and I taught myself basic chords and began to write progressions and lyrics.

In college, I started performing my songs for my friends, and at open mics. With all the encouragement and after I met people who were also into creating music, I started a band.

Our band became popular on campus, as the only all-female group in a male-dominated space. This experience brought my passion to the forefront of my life and taught me just how important music is to me, which is why I would like to include it in my design when feasible.

Intent

Through this project my goal was to create digital memories, because moments are fleeting.

I also wanted this to be a way for me to find and share music. I became more aware of the music I was hearing in a given circumstance and could go back and listen to it from the accompanying Spotify playlist.

My final goal was to become aware of my surroundings, and see the beauty in the mundane, almost as a meditative grounding experience.
